Adventure Training

861 (Wideopen) Squadron is very active when it comes to Adventure Training – regularly participating in challenging walks and climbs in the UKs countryside.  These activities all help cadets to qualify for their Duke of Edinburgh Awards (DofE) and are great for developing technical skills and team work development – these kinds of events are great for allowing young individuals to take the lead in areas that they are not used to in everyday life, this can give individuals confidence an a sense of pride.

The Cadets safety is paramount in these areas and the cadets are always accompanied by competent, qualified and experienced staff, holding BELAs (Basic Expedition Leader Awards) and WGLAs (Walking Group Leader Awards) whenever they are out in the hills.
